SO LONG DICKO & THANKS FOR ALL THE GOALS
12.03.07
It is with a mixture of pride and regret that Dulwich Hamlet announce that leading striker Chris Dickson has today put pen to paper on a 2½ year contract to complete a dream move from the Ryman Isthmian League Division One South to the heady heights of Premiership Charlton Athletic. The deal came in the wake of an impressive run out for Charlton's Reserves in midweek when he found the back of the net twice before the quarter hour against Fulham's second string at Motspur Park, and came within inches of netting a magical hat-trick with an overhead kick in a 5-1 victory.
The Hamlet hitman, whose 31 goals in just 35 appearances have been instrumental in Dulwich's push for promotion this season, has signed for the Addicks for an initial fee of £35,000 which will be followed by an additional payment of £15,000 when Dickson makes a First Team competitive appearance for Charlton. In addition Dulwich have agreed a 5% sell-on clause along with a pre-season friendly against a full Charlton First Team over the next two seasons.
Commenting on the deal Dulwich chairman Martin Eede wished Dickson all the best and praised Charlton on a fair deal, sensibly negotiated.
Talking to the official Charlton Athletic website on the conclusion of the deal, Dickson said "It's like a dream come true to sign for a Premiership club,". "It's a massive step up for me but I've always been a confident player. I did my best to impress in the reserve game and thought I grabbed my chance with both hands."
