The replay at BROXBOURNE two days later got off to an eventful start, with both sides soon reduced to ten men. Broxbourne's Ryan Wade and our Peter Martin were both sent off in the 14th minute, Wade for a bad challenge and Martin for retaliation. Three minutes later, we took the lead. Scott Simpson collected a cross-field pass from Alex Fiddes, sidestepped his marker and fired a cracker of a left-foot shot past Virgo from 15 yards. As in the first match, we enjoyed the balance of play but could not add to our early goal. Virgo snatched the ball off the toes of Laurent Hamici to save one dangerous situation, then, just before the interval, Laurent badly miscued his shot across the face of goal following a great cross from Scott Simpson.

We dominated the proceedings for much of the second-half, but frittered away countless chances. Laurent Hamici volleyed over the bar when well placed, then Virgo splendidly tipped over a 20-yarder from the same player. A low drive from Scott Simpson flashed across the face of goal, and then Fasineh Koroma shot over after a furious scramble as Broxbourne continued to defend desperately. As so often happens in these situations, the home side then equalised completely against the run of play. An 81st minute free-kick out on the right was driven in low by Rob Tungett and substitute Matt Kearney touched in the equaliser from close range. Undaunted, we fought back and after the home side had needlessly conceded possession, Scott Simpson forced another fine save from Virgo. From the resultant comer, in the 84th minute, swung in from the left by Scott Simpson, Marc Cumberbatch rose high above the defence at the near post to net with a thumping header which proved to be the winning goal. Kearney went close from 20 yards just before the end but we held on for a 2-1 victory. Sadly, our win was marred by an incident after the final whistle which resulted in a 'red card' for Jamie Lunan.
